Halloween costumes that won't scare you! Part 1

In my humble opinion there is nothing worse than the current trend of hooched up little girls Halloween costumes! I dropped my son off at a party last year (8th grade) and Sexy Alice in Wonderland and Hot Naughty nurse answered the door. Needless to say I was a little shocked that their parents were standing right behind them, and I had to stifle the urge to throw a blanket over the whole mess! In full disclosure I would have begged my mom for some hot Halloween costume and she would not have permitted it, which would have caused a serious fit on my part, but now that I'm a parent I "get it".

Here are some adorable "costumes" that I created from the Goodwill. I went to the Leetsdade and Belleview stores to gather my goods. Dress up gear still in the packaging.

Goodwill has racks and racks of traditional costumes that are just waiting for you!

I had something a little different in mind than the pre-made variety. Keeping in mind that schools have a "no gore" policy, and we are keeping the little girls covered up, I came up with some appropriate costumes with a little money and a bit of imagination.

I say Sally Draper, but you can call her "1950's Girl".

(I think this is an "angel" or "queen" costume that we added suede boots and cool cinnamon roll buns that were twisted by me.)

Boot Stands

In Rachel Ray magazine this month it shows some "Innies Inserts" to put in your boots to keep their shape. You don't need to buy a pair (or twelve depending on your boot collection)! A perfect way to keep your boots standing tall and reuse something you already have...
is to just roll up a magazine and slide it in.

Depending on the size of your magazine, you may have to roll two together. Now all of your boots will line up in your closet without falling over. Now if it would just cool down so I could finally wear them!

Rachel... love your magazine, and now when I'm finished looking through your magazine I just buy another pair of boots to keep it in!

It's only the very elusive Dale of Norway Sweater that I talk about on my blog. You know the ones I search for at the G-Dub but have never come across...

My dear sweet reader/friend Ann sent it to me! She is the same reader that gave me the tip about the Thrifty Shoppe in Edwards, Colorado. What a sweet thing to do! She and I email back and forth, she checks up on me and my "mental progress". I'm so touched, and fortunate that I have so many friends keeping an eye on me.

A Paris Street Market

Some friends and I met up and to do a little shopping at "A Paris Street Market" in Aspen Grove. That sentence sounds pretty swanky I must say. We had such a great time catching up and wandering the stalls for pretty little things. If you live in the Denver area you really need to go check it out! The vendors were great! It was soooo hot that morning! We decided to do a little hat shopping. We each bought a hat from the Madagascar Hat Company. You should check out their website! The hats can be folded into so many beautiful shapes, they look beautiful, and they keep the sun off of your beautiful face!

Then we moved on to vintage clothing. I think my hands are small. Wait until you try on a vintage glove, their hands were tiny!

So lady like. Man Men here I come. (except that my boyfriend Don Draper has got to get his self destructive ways under control. I don't like a project.)

Lisa K took the pix of me with her iphone. Love them! Thanks Lisa! We had a nice air conditioned lunch (Ted's Montana Grill--Yum!) to catch up and make Darrin the waiter's face a little red! Can't wait to do it again! For some reason Peggy didn't jump in front of the lens so she isn't in any of the pictures! Sorry Peggy! (she could take a lesson from me you know, jump in front of every camera you see, do the head tilt, maybe a little back arch.......just some suggestions.)

Popsicles!

Remember my neighbors that let me borrow (I mean babysit) her?
They also let me borrow their Zoku machine!
I'm trying to eat "clean" lately. I made up the term for things that aren't processed. I'm trying to wean myself from some "brain medication" so I thought that eating healthy couldn't hurt.
I blended Organic Cherries (Costco), Organic Blueberries (I froze them this summer), local honey, and Organic Yogurt
You put them in this magic Zoku machine and in 7 minutes you have a delicious popsicle! I wish I had this in Flaming Hot Fresno when I was little!
Look at those freckles on my son! I forget that they came from me. My husband likes to take super close up pictures, and I think dang! we are the freckle family!!
